Thirty-six entries participated in the race at the 1/4 mile oval, and Chris started 3rd in his heat before finishing 2nd, which sent him to the redraw for the feature. In the redraw he received the 6th starting spot, and throughout the 40 lap finale he lurked in the top ten before finishing 7th.

Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) awaited the USMTS competitors on Friday night for a $5,000-to-win event at the 1/2 mile, clay oval. The weekend concluded on Saturday evening at the wicked-fast, Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Oklahoma) with a $5,000-to-win race. Thursday evening found the Hunt for the Casey's Cup action being held at Rice Lake Speedway (Rice Lake, Wisconsin). With 41 entries on hand Brown started his night by winning his heat race to move onto the redraw for the feature. On Friday night the action shifted to Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin) for a $5,000-to-win affair that drew a field of 36 entries to the Bob Timm's owned, 3/8 mile oval. Heat race and b-main action found Brown again struggling to find the handle on his #21 entry. As a result he utilized a series' provisional to start the feature 22nd before only being able to manage a 23rd place finish.

The night started on a much better note than the previous nights as Chris finished 2nd in his heat race to lock into the 9th starting spot for the finale.
